commission vs custom

A commission is a new design that is created in collaboration! A custom order is an existing design made with your choice of stone and size. For details on how to request a custom piece, see here.

How it works:

  • Fill out the commission request form with the preliminary details of your commission request. If you have reference photos, you can email them to Meghan at meghan@meghanelisabethart.com

  • If your request fits the aesthetic design and vision of the Meghan Elisabeth Art brand, Meghan will contact you with follow-up questions and a pricing estimate.

  • An invoice with the deposit amount and a commission agreement will be emailed to you. The commission agreement outlines the price, timeline, check-in dates, payment, edits & revision guidelines, and delivery details.

  • A preliminary sketch of the piece will be communicated with an opportunity for design revisions. Progress photos will be sent to you at the mid-point check-in date with another opportunity for design edits. If at any point the design changes during the creative process, this will be communicated to you with photos and an updated sketch, with an opportunity for your feedback.

  • The piece will be delivered to you via USPS First Class mail with tracking.

  • You wear your new, incredible piece of art!

Disclaimers:

  • Sometimes stones break when they are set into a piece! If this happens with your piece, I will contact you to pick out another stone. If you picked out a stone from my collection & it resulted in the piece being delivered outside the predetermined delivery date, the commission price will be discounted by 20%. If the stone was provided by you, you will have the option to pick out a stone from my collection with the commission price reduced by 20%, or I will refund the deposit in full.

  • The commission request must fit in the aesthetic design and vision of the Meghan Elisabeth Art brand. Otherwise, the request will be rejected.

  • If you do not like the final piece, you may either have the piece sent to you upon the completion of payment, or Meghan Elisabeth Art will sell the piece to another buyer. The deposit will not be refunded.

  • Either party - you or Meghan Elisabeth Art - may discontinue the commission relationship at any time.

  • The deposit amount is non-refundable once silverwork has begun.

  • Depending on the season and the complexity of the requested piece, the estimated time for completion will be between 2-6 months. The completion and delivery date will be dictated in the commission agreement.

Pricing

Deposit

The deposit covers the commission design fee and the estimated material & labor cost. This will be approximately 50-65% of the total price. The remaining cost will be invoiced after completion and prior to delivery.

The commission design fee includes 4 edits per design sketch and 1 silverwork edit (a revision of something already made, prior to stone setting) at no additional cost.

  • Commission design fee:

    • Rings & Necklaces: $25

    • Earrings: $50

    • Other: determined once the commission request has been received.

  • Stone cost:*

    • Extra Small stone: $6

    • Small stone: $8

    • Medium stone: $14

    • Large stone: $20

*These prices are the estimate, the true price may be more or less depending on the type of stone.

  • Silver cost:

    • A minimum of $5 is included in the deposit.

  • Labor cost:

    • A minimum of $50 is included in the deposit.

Remaining Cost

The remaining cost invoice will pay for the remaining time and materials spent on the final piece, as well as any edit & revision charges (if applicable).

If there are more revisions to the piece than covered by the commission design fee, there will be an additional cost of $10 to every sketch edit and $20 to every silverwork edit, with a limit of 8 additional sketch edits and 2 additional silverwork edits. Silverwork edits are not allowed after the stone has been set.

A full receipt of costs will be communicated with the final invoice prior to delivery.
